This is going to be a fun series to watch. Both teams have some scoring ability. The Isles can help themselves a lot by coming back from Florida for game three with at least a split. It will be real interesting to see if the Barclays has the same feel and impact during the playoffs that the NVMC had. I know the arena is designed differently, but it will be filled with the same fans that were rocking the NVMC in 2013 and 2015.

gonna be a VERY physical series. I anticipate a lot of bad blood coming out of this series; should be a lot of fun. pretty evenly matched. isles have experience on their side. best thing about lining up against the panthers is that the isles are now in a better position SHOULD they get to the next round.

pens and caps is murderers row.

as previous mentioned, im REALLY curious to see the atmosphere. last year at NVMC the place was rocking. i could hear myself think. id be shocked if it was close to the same. also very curious to see if those boycotting barclays will now come out and support the team.

There's a certain kind of Long Islander whose ancestors left the city ca. 1975 and no one in their clan has been back there ever since.

Yeah, they're called "everyone's grandparents".

My grandmother reminds me everytime we talk that her rent in Brooklyn in whatever-the-(frank) ancient year she lived there was $69/mo and every time I remind her that's less than half of my cable/internet bill.

Not really. It's down from the last season in NVMC but it was probably better at Barclays than it's been in most of the past 20 years prior to 2014-15.

It is harder to get to for some people; It is not very accessible by driving, but it is also across a courtyard from a railroad hub, so if you live near a LIRR stop and/or live and/or work in the city, it is actually a lot easier to get to (and have a couple of adult beverages without worrying about driving afterwards).

The real issue is that (I think), in a lot of peoples' minds, Brooklyn is just enemy territory (Rangers', hipsters', and other less politely acknowledged group delineations).

I live in Brooklyn so it's easier for me, but I love being able to take the train to the game. It's not perfect for hockey but it's much better than the broken down Coli.

Viewing hipsters with contempt demonstrates a healthy reaction to hipsters.

Im convinced skinny jeans are a brilliant government plan.

They cut off circulation to the berries, hence causing sterility. Then hipster douche can't have little hipster douches.

call me crazy but I don't remember any of the games vs Florida being Physical. We should have a veteran advantage and whats important is to set the tone of series early. And be veteran I don't mean bringing Streit and Zidlicky . Im plenty confident with Pelech and Pulock.

when I think physical its Flyers and Caps.

nothing will be like NVMC b/c you can say that about any new arena. that said, I think the isles fans will be loud for some playoff hockey.

Florida is plenty physical. They have not taken out players like the Caps have done against the Islanders, but they are a strong and physical team.

No one seems to remember Florida playing physical against us. I have no idea how anyone could forget its something thats discussed every single time we play them. Now all of a sudden we have no issue playing them and suddenly match up well against them physically. Short term memory

I was actually at both games and relative to most opponent they were some of the least physical.

Maybe you should send less time listening to Howie Rose on TV and make you own assessments.

Its amazing how we get the most favorable matchup in Eastern Conference yet Its mindboggling to hear they prefer to have gotten the pens.

By Pens, so you mean the team that totally Waxed us without Malkin and Fluery. Yea that sounds like a great idea. What next you going to tell me we should of played the Caps b/c we beat them last game? come on now.

for what its worth im very happy facing the panthers (as opposed to the pens) because i believe they are an easIER matchup then the pens and even more so because of the 2nd round opponent. thats not to say they will get to the 2nd round, but SHOULD they get to the 2nd round id rather face the lightning/red wings than the caps.
